Brunelli, Brunello Riserva


Tasting Notes: Luca Brunelli is making some of the finest “Brunelli” in Montalcino. Very well reviewed and exceptionally inspired winemaking, his Riserva is one of the best wines of the decade from Italy. This truly exceptional Brunello satisfies even the toughest of critics. It is exceptionally powerful, yet elegant, made in a neo-classic style that is pleasing from the first sip. Typical aromas of dried morello cherry, black tea, rosemary, plum, soy intermingle into a palate layered with delicious, refined cooperage that tastes, well, decadent.

Soil Medium mixture with remarkable fossil presence.
Estate Brunelli Vine Spurred Cordon.
4,800 - 5,200 vines per hectare.

Winemaker Luca Brunelli. Vinification Maceration in temperature controlled stainless steel for 18 days.
Varietals 100% Sangiovese. Barrel Tonneaux and 15 hl oak barrels.
Residual Sugar 2.3 grams per liter. Maturation 3 years in the barrel.
1 year in the bottle.
Acidity 5.1 grams per liter. Vintage Production 4,000 cases.
Alcohol 13.9% by volume. Foot Fairing Cinghiale (boar) ragù with pappardelle pasta, prosciutto-wrapped asparagus, parmigiano torts with sage.
